South Orange Stop & Stop to Open October 23rd

South Orange, New Jersey: The Stop & Stop supermarket location that is replacing the South Orange Pathmark is expected to open next week.

According to company officials, the store is expected to open to customers on Friday, October 23rd. The supermarket closed its doors for the last time as a Pathmark location on Wednesday, and the sign on Valley Street was changed from reading Pathmark to Stop & Shop on Thursday.

This will be the third Stop & Shop location in Essex County. There are other stores in Bloomfield and West Caldwell.

Stop & Shop purchased the South Orange Pathmark after Pathmark's parent company, The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P), filed for bankruptcy. Other A&P-owned supermarkets in Essex County are becoming ACME locations, while others could close.
