East Orange, New Jersey: A groundbreaking ceremony will be held this month for a new Essex County convenience store location. 7-Eleven store #37091 will be constructed at 247 Freeway Drive East in East Orange, at the corner of South Arlington Avenue.
“We are excited to witness the dynamic transformation of our city as new businesses begin to choose East Orange”, said East Orange Mayor Lester E. Taylor III in a statement.
The groundbreaking for the standalone store, which will have a free parking lot, will be held on Monday, September 14th, at 12:30pm. According to the City of East Orange, which is sponsoring the event, the new store is "the first franchise of its kind in the City", and the groundbreaking will be a "community celebration of efforts to revitalize East Orange".
Notable attendees will include Mayor Taylor, members of the East Orange City Council, East Orange Department of Policy, Planning and Development Director Valerie Jackson, and representatives from 7-Eleven.
According to the City, 12,000 motorists pass by the area daily, which is considered to be a Transit Village as it is served by NJ Transit trains and buses.
To register for the groundbreaking, call (973) 266-5140, or send an email to greg.good@eastorange.nj.gov. Refreshments will be served.
7-Eleven is not the only new business that is coming to the area. A Holiday Inn Express hotel will open in the neighborhood within the next few years.
