Learn to Swim for Free in Newark


Newark, New Jersey: If you do not know how to swim, consider attending this upcoming event. 

The City of Newark's Department of Neighborhood and Recreational Services' Recreation Division will host swimming classes on Thursday, September 10th, from 4:00pm to 7:30pm at the Sharpe James/Kenneth A. Gibson Recreation and Aquatic Center in the Ironbound. 

The lessons are free and open to members of the public of all ages. There will also be lessons on water fitness and classes for parents and their children. Attendees should bring a towel, a bathing suit, and a swim cap. 

The Sharpe James/Kenneth A. Gibson Recreation and Aquatic Center is located in the Ironbound at 226 Rome Street, near the corner of St. Charles Street. Transportation is available by taking NJ Transit Buses 1 or 108 to the Five Corners and walking down St. Charles Street.
