South Orange to Celebrate River Day on May 3

The annual River Day celebration will return to South Orange on Saturday, May 3 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. This year, the event will be centered around Floods Hill in Meadowland Park, located between North Ridgewood Road and Meadowbrook Lane off of Mead Street. The event took place at the Duck Pond in previous years. Activities will include a wild edibles walk, live music, and a clean up of several parts of the East Branch of the Rahway River in the village. Those who are interested in participating in the river clean up should bring water proof boots or old sneakers and a signed copy of this form.

According to the South Orange Environmental Commission and Green Team, approximately 500 people helped pull approximately one ton of refuse from South Orange's section of the East Branch of the Rahway River during the 2014 River Day.
