Senator Menendez Indicted, Essex Officials React

Senator Bob Menendez has been indicted on multiple federal corruption charges, including several counts of conspiracy and bribery. The North Jersey office of Menendez, who is a Hudson County native, is located at One Gateway Center in Downtown Newark. Menendez is scheduled to make a statement regarding the indictment at his office this evening.

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. issued a statement saying that he has "had the opportunity to see first-hand the benefits of the work Bob Menendez has done on behalf of all New Jerseyans", and that Menendez "always fought for us". DiVincenzo added that he looks "forward to the resolution of this matter so Senator Menendez can continue his work on behalf of the citizens of Essex County and New Jersey".

Menendez is scheduled to be honored by La Casa de Don Pedro in Newark on April 16 "for advancing policies that support lawful immigration". La Casa de Don Pedro did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
