Maplewood to Celebrate Green Month


Maplewood, New Jersey: The Maplewood Green Team will celebrate 'Maplewood Green Month' throughout April. 

An Environmental Film Festival at the main branch of the Maplewood Memorial Library will be a part of the Green Month festivities. 'Chasing Ice' will be shown on Tuesday, April 7, 'Elemental' will be shown on Tuesday, April 14, 'Vanishing of the Bees' will be shown on Tuesday, April 21, and 'Trashed' will be shown on Tuesday, April 28. Funding will be provided by the New Jersey Clean Communities Fund. Each film will be shown at 3:30pm at 7:00pm in the Memorial Room.

The Maplewood Memorial Library will celebrate Green Week between April 13 and April 17 with activities like creating craft 3D sculptures from recycled book pages, making a recycled birdfeeder, and a family recycling challenge. The week will conclude with a show by Rizzo’s Reptile Discovery about animals of the Amazon Rainforest on Saturday, April 18th at 2:00 pm.

In addition, a Bike Safety and Maintenance Event will be presented by Maplewood Loves Wellness on Wednesday, April 15 at 3:30pm. This event will take place at the Memorial Park Skate House. The New Jersey Community Tree Recovery Campaign will distribute free tree seedlings.

Maplewood Green Month is sponsored by the Able Baker, PSE&G, and Rizzo's Wildlife. Partners include the Maplewood Memorial Library and Maplewood Loves Wellness.
