Zipline Planned for 2016 PlayDay South Orange Event

South Orange, New Jersey: What has become an annual Essex County tradition will return next month.

The third PlayDay South Orange will be held on Sunday, September 18th, along South Orange Avenue in the South Orange Village Center. From 1:00pm to 6:00pm, streets will be closed in the Downtown area so that children and community members can participate in various activities.

Last year, there were a variety of activities for attendees, and the New Jersey Hall of Fame Mobile Museum was parked on South Orange Avenue.

This year, many events are planned. According to an email from South Orange Village Center Alliance Executive Director Bob Zuckerman, for those who purchase a $10 wristband, activities will include a dual zip line down South Orange Avenue, inflatable rides, and race cars. The PlayDay website reports that the Fun Bus and a rock wall will also be present. Other activities will include a skate park, mini golf, and table games, and visitors can watch performances on the MainStage. Local organizations will have tables under the NJ Transit tracks.

The weekend will be filled with events across the village, from the Community Campout at New Waterlands Park on Friday evening to the Newstead 5K and Olde Time Baseball Game at Cameron Field on Saturday. Also, the South Orange Public Library will be celebrating its 150th anniversary of serving the community on Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm, and Newcomers Day will take place at the library on Sunday at noon.
