Day Care Center Planned for New Broad Street Building

Newark, New Jersey: A new mixed-use development in Downtown Newark is nearly complete.

999 Broad, located at 999 Broad Street, between Court Street and West Kinney Street, will contain 104 apartments. The project website states that occupancy at the property will begin in August, and that there is a fitness center, courtyard, and parking garage at the complex.

RPM Development Group, based in Montclair, is responsible for the project, as well as the neighboring 60 Nevada development. A United States Postal Service vehicle maintenance facility was previously located at the site.

According to a legal notice obtained by Essex County Place, the developer is planning to open a child day care center in the ground floor retail space. The Newark Central Planning Board will hear that proposal on Monday, August 8th at 6:30pm at City Hall.

The area south of Newark City Hall along Broad Street is seeing an increase in development, and nearby, a new 12-story building is planned with apartments and stores.
