One Business Returning, Another Opening on South Orange's Irvington Avenue

South Orange, New Jersey: A longtime business is moving in South Orange's Seton Village neighborhood, while another is planning to open down the street.

University Sub Shop, located at 312 Irvington Avenue near Seton Hall University, was shut down at the end of May. An eviction notice from the Superior Court of New Jersey and a 'for rent' sign were posted on the front door. The restaurant, known for its 'fat sandwiches' and late hours, is the last remaining sub sandwich store in South Orange. Subway closed its location on South Orange Avenue in Downtown in 2015, and Blimpie closed on Valley Street in 2008.

A sign has been posted across the street at 325 Irvington Avenue in the space previously occupied by the Blue Plate Special advertising University Sub Shop. The business posted on its Facebook page that it intends to open in the new space in late July along with The High CheeZe restaurant.

A block away, a new barber shop is planning to open at 301 Irvington Avenue. Tools Grooming Den will be located in the space previously occupied by the Seton Village Boutique, 2 Great Kids, Music and More, and Braids R Us.
