West Orange, New Jersey: A new bagel shop could be coming to West Orange in the near future.
According to documents from the West Orange Township Department of Planning and Development, Manhattan Bagel is planning to open a location at 575-581 Northfield Avenue, just across the street from the South Mountain Recreation Complex and the Turtle Back Zoo.
The store, which would be franchised by NM Food Corporation, would be located within the South Mountain Mall plaza in the space previously occupied by Dunkin' Donuts. Dunkin' Donuts moved to a new building along Northfield Avenue last year.
There are currently Essex County Manhattan Bagel locations in Fairfield, Roseland, and West Caldwell. The brand is owned by the same company as Einstein Bros. Bagels, which has a location on the Montclair State University campus.
The West Orange Planning Board will hear the proposal tonight.
