Newark, New Jersey: Public pools in the City of Newark will open to residents this week.
According to an email from the city, all of Newark's pools, including the city's five outdoor pools and one indoor pool, will be open for the season on Tuesday, July 5th at 9:30am.
Unlike most places in New Jersey, public pools in Newark have free admission, but all city pools are closed on Sundays.
"Guaranteeing the successful openings of each swimming pool throughout the City of Newark is a primary goal we have for the beginning of each summer", said Patrick Council, the director of Newark Neighborhood and Recreational Services in a statement, adding that "it allows our residents to partake in various summer activities, while bringing our community together as one".

City pools are closed for one hour during the day for maintenance and to give lifeguards a lunch break. Newark pools close for the summer on Saturday, August 27th.
Pools in most other Essex County municipalities, including South Orange, Maplewood, East Orange, and Irvington have already opened for the season.
