Tour Newark's Churches This Month

Newark, New Jersey: As part of the celebration of Newark's 350th Anniversary, a holiday tour of churches in the city will be offered this month. The Newark Preservation and Landmarks Committee will offer the bus tour on Sunday, December 27th, beginning at 12:00pm and concluding at 6:00pm. Attendees will visit some of the oldest churches in the city, which were each established during different time periods in Newark's history. Tour stops will include the First Presbyterian Church, the Trinity and St. Phillips Cathedral, St. Lucy's Roman Catholic Church, and the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Attendees will tour each of these churches, and will pass by others. There will also be a reception with refreshments at Newark's historic Plume House, which is close to 300 years old. The tour will begin and end at the Newark Museum. Tickets cost $40 per person, though members of the committee receive a discount of $5. The Newark Museum is located at 49 Washington Street. Transportation is available using the Washington Park Station on the Newark Light Rail and local NJ Transit buses. Click here to learn more.
