Mixed Use Development Being Built in Newark's Central Ward

Newark, New Jersey: Construction is in progress on a new development in the University Heights neighborhood of Newark's Central Ward. According to Jeffery Realty, the new building will be located near the New Jersey Institute of Technology at 42-48 Norfolk Street, at the corner of Sussex Avenue. It will be four stories tall, and will contain two street-level commercial spaces that will face Norfolk Street. 18 luxury apartments will occupy the top three floors. It was built at the site of a vacant lot. According to tax records, the property is owned by Eminent Properties, a private Newark-based real estate investment firm. The surrounding properties, which include houses, a mixed use residential and commercial building that contains a bodega, and the Newark Collegiate Academy Charter School, were all built in the last eight years on vacant lots as well. Click here to learn more.
