Help the South Orange Rescue Squad Get Grant Money

This article was submitted to Essex County Place by the South Orange Rescue Squad.

The South Orange New Jersey Volunteer Rescue Squad needs your vote quickly as it seeks to win a $25,000 grant from the insurance giant State Farm. The grant will be used to finish building its new state of the art headquarters and enhance its lifesaving services. The Rescue Squad was one of 200 causes selected out of 4,000 applicants. Of those, the top 40 will each receive a $25,000 grant as part of the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program. We are confident that with community support we can reach this amazing goal, complete the rebuilding of our headquarters and be able to better serve the community. Voting is taking place on the State Farm Facebook page located here: People can also vote by clicking here: Members of the public are encouraged to vote up to 10 times per day, every day until the contest ends on June 3rd. The volunteer members of the South Orange Rescue Squad were forced to leave our headquarters of 43 years because it was torn down to make room for a real estate development. The developer contributed funds towards the construction of a new building, but it is not enough to complete the project. This grant would help us complete the rebuilding project and fund the construction of their training room, which is used to train not only members of the Rescue Squad, but also members of the general public in first aid and CPR. It would allow us to once again have a safe, secure and appropriate facility from which to base their operations, without having to drastically cut into their operating budget and savings, which could put our life saving programs in jeopardy. During the voting phase for Neighborhood Assist, each Facebook user will be able to vote up to 10 times per day for any of the causes that they want to support. Everyone is urged to vote every day up to 10 times by clicking here:
