Al Sharpton to Receive Newark's 'Key to the City' on Monday


Newark, New Jersey: City officials announced today that Reverend Al Sharpton will be honored during a ceremony at Newark's City Hall this Monday, June 15th. According to a press release, Sharpton, who founded the National Action Network, will be honored by Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Newark Municipal Council members, including Council President Mildred Crump, and other local leaders. Sharpton will also receive the 'key to the city' for his "career and humanitarian efforts". Newark Police Department personnel will also be honored.

Mayor Baraka attended the National Action Network convention in New York in April.
