Warming Center Now Open in Newark

Newark, New Jersey: With the temperature in Essex County well below the freezing mark, officials are recommending that residents remain indoors. For homeless Newarkers and anyone else who does not have a place to stay tonight, the City of Newark's Department of Health and Community Wellness will host an overnight warming center at the JFK Recreation Center in the Central Ward, according to RedeemUs Essex Social Services. Doors will open at 8:00pm. JFK Recreation Center is located at 211 West Kinney Street, between Broome Street and Howard Street. To learn more, call (973) 733-7592.
