Officials Announce Newark International Film Festival

Newark, New Jersey: A new film festival will be held in Essex County this year. The Newark International Film Festival will take place on September 9th, 10th, and 11th, according to the Greater Newark Convention and Visitors Bureau. The event will be held in association with the American Black Film Festival. According to the city, the Hannibal Goodwin Award for Innovation in Filmmaking will be given to one participant in honor of the Newark resident who invented celluloid film on Broad Street nearly 130 years ago. Workshops, exhibitions, and screenings will be part of the festivities. City officials will announce more details on Tuesday, and a kickoff VIP reception is planned for Thursday.
