West Orange, New Jersey: The annual Essex County Deer Management Program is beginning this morning at South Mountain Reservation.
Most of the 2,100 park in Maplewood, Millburn, and West Orange will be closed today, January 21st, 26th, and 28th, and February 2nd and 4th as part of the hunt. South Orange Avenue, Brookside Drive, Cherry Lane, and most of the South Mountain Recreation Complex on Northfield Avenue in West Orange will remain open, though the loop around the Orange Reservoir, all hiking trails, Crest Drive, and all other areas will be closed off.
The deer hunt at South Mountain Reservation began in 2008, and has taken place each winter since.
Hilltop Reservation in Cedar Grove, North Caldwell, and Verona will be closed for several days in February and March to make way for the program.
