Maplewood PD: Laurel Avenue Robbery Suspect Arrested



The Maplewood Police Department has announced that the Maplewood Police Detective Bureau and investigators from the United States Postal Inspectors Office arrested a 16 year old from Newark on armed robbery charges in connection with the March 25th robbery of a USPS letter carrier on Laurel Avenue in the eastern section of Maplewood. The suspect was taken into custody on Monday, March 28.

According to the press release from the Maplewood Police, "the weapon that was (allegedly) used by the juvenile was recovered and turned out to be a replica Beretta pistol, pellet gun".

Maplewood Police say that they are looking to find the identity of the suspect's alleged accomplice. The suspect was sent to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center in Newark.
