Newark, New Jersey: A new resource for local families has opened in Newark.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Weequahic Family Success Center was held on August 23rd in the South Ward of the city. The center, managed by the Newark Emergency Services for Families, Inc. organization, is located at 1065 Bergen Street, between Lyons Avenue and Harding Terrace.
Several free events are planned for the center this month, including a grandparent support group on September 13, a poetry jam on September 16, Fire Prevention Day on September 17, and a career development group meeting on September 23.
Donations for the center are accepted at the West Essex Tribune office in Livingston.
Other family success centers in Essex County include East Orange Family Success Center on Evergreeen Place, the Ironbound Community Corporation Family Success Center on Cortland Street, the FOCUS Family Success Center on Broad Street in Newark, and the Irvington Family Development Center Family Success Center on Union Avenue.
The space was previously occupied by Dee-Von's Just For You and New Way Supermarket.
