House Tour Coming to Forest Hill in Newark

Newark, New Jersey: A tour will soon be offered of homes in a historic Newark neighborhood.

The annual self-guided Forest Hill House Tour will be held on Sunday, October 9th, from 11:00am to 3:00pm, in Newark's North Ward. Nearly a dozen properties can be toured by participants, including the historic Sydenham House on Old Road to Bloomfield across from Branch Brook Park. The house, which remains a private residence, dates to 1711, making it the oldest building in Newark, and one of the oldest private houses in the country. In addition, Mount Prospect Avenue's Wright-Clark Mansion, which was recently renovated for use by the North Ward Center, will also be opened to attendees.

Tickets for the tour cost $25, and may be purchased beginning at 10:00am at the Ballantine Gates, located at the corner of Lake Street and Ballantine Parkway. The event, which will be presented by the Forest Hill Community Association, will take place rain or shine.
