Ironbound ACME to Open Next Week

Newark, New Jersey: ACME Markets will open its second location in Essex County next week. According to the United Food and Commercial Workers, the Newark ACME is expected to open to customers on Sunday, November 8th. The new supermarket, located at 281-295 Ferry Street in the Ironbound, used to be a Pathmark location. It is one of two Essex County supermarkets that ACME Markets acquired from Pathmark's parent company, A&P, after it filed for bankruptcy. The other market, A&P Fresh of Upper Montclair, became an ACME location in October. Newark's other Pathmark supermarket, located at the corner of South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street in the Central Ward, will close in the near future should no other company purchase it.
