For decades, the City of East Orange supplied South Orange's water supply, but the village switched to New Jersey American Water at the beginning of 2017. In order to accommodate the change, this facility off of Walton Road was constructed to connect South Orange's water supply with New Jersey American Water's existing infrastructure in Maplewood.
