This Saturday, February 21, the Greater Newark Conservancy (GNC) will hold the fourth annual Beds and Breakfast program, a community garden and urban farming seminar. Those who sign up to participate will take part in hands-on demonstration and learn more about gardening and farming. Plus, attendees will learn about how to make a neighborhood community garden. The event will take place between 9:00am and 2:00pm. The fee is $30 and preregistration is required.
On Saturday, February 28, GNC will sponsor a trip to the first day of the 2015 Philadelphia Flower Show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The Flower Show is produced by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and is one of the largest annual flower shows in the United States. The theme for this year's show is "Lights, Camera, BLOOM!". Vans will leave from the GNC offices at 9:00am and will return from Philadelphia at 5:00pm. Tickets will cost $35 for adults, $25 for students, and $20 for children. The ticket price includes van transportation and show admission.
To register for both events, call the Greater Newark Conservancy at (973) 642-4646. The GNC is located in the former Oheb Shalom Congregation at 32 Prince Street in Newark between Springfield and South Orange Avenues.
