Child Care Center Plans to Move in South Orange

South Orange, New Jersey: A local child care center could be moving across town.

According to a legal notice from the South Orange Village Zoning Board of Adjustment, Little Stages is planning to open a child care center at 179 Irvington Avenue, at the corner of Cottage Street. The center would serve up to thirty children, and would be located just down the street from Congregation Beth El, which also has a preschool. It plans to operate in a building, which was originally a house, that previously was occupied by Guiding Hands Pediatrics.

Currently, Little Stages is located in a former house on Taylor Place near the South Orange Public Library. That property is owned by Taylor Vose Associates, which also owns the former Blockbuster building on South Orange Avenue and a few neighboring properties. Taylor Vose shares an address with Hub Realty in West Orange. Although Jared Lustbader of Hub Realty told Essex County Place that there are no plans for the building at this time, TAP into SOMA reports that a mixed use development with retail, office, and residential space could be coming to the property.

A hearing will be held regarding the Little Stages plan at the South Orange Performing Arts Center on June 7th at 7:30pm.
