Essex Fells Police to Look for Drunk Drivers

Essex Fells, New Jersey: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's annual 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' campaign is beginning today, and local police departments plan to take part. The Essex Fells Police Department will be one of thousands of law enforcement agencies to "show zero tolerance for drunk driving", according to Vincent Kulik, the chief of police in the small West Essex borough. According to a statement, the department "will be out in full force to catch drunk drivers". The campaign will be held from now until Monday, September 7th, though laws regarding drunk driving are enforced throughout the year.  Click here to learn more, or call Sergeant Scott Jones at (973) 226-3000.

Essex County to Host Fishing Derbies for Children

Essex County, New Jersey: The Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs will host fishing derbies throughout the spring at seven Essex County parks. The fishing derbies are open to children ages 15 and under.  Prizes will be awarded, and there will be no entry fee. Fishing poles will be provided to the first 150 children, and participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing poles, in addition to bait, a chair, and a bucket. Registration will begin one hour before the start time.
