Located at the edge of the East Orange Water Reserve, this unassuming privately-owned building alongside Passaic Avenue in Livingston was once a one-room school called the Washington Place Schoolhouse. The vacant school dates back to 1800 and served the part of town that was once known as Cheapside. The property also contains a small private cemetery called the Baldwin Family Burying Ground where three Revolutionary War soldiers are buried, according to the Township, one of whom was involved in the Horseneck Riots.
