After being designated unsafe and at risk for collapse, demolition is underway at 37-57 Branford Place in Newark, a 92-year-old vacant building. It was slated to be converted into a mixed-use development with 12,000 square feet of retail space and 60 apartments, and is known for the Walt Whitman quote “If you want me again look for me under your bootsoles” that is written on the rooftop.
