Another Self Storage Facility Opens in Newark

Newark, New Jersey: Another self-storage facility has opened in the City of Newark.

Extra Space Storage recently opened a location at 50 Gould Avenue, between South 13th Street and South 14th Street, in the West Ward. The building is five stories tall, and sits across from Route 280 and the UPS distribution center. It is Extra Space's fifth location in Essex County after Bloomfield, Fairfield, Orange, and Newark's South Ward.

An abandoned factory, originally owned by the Imperial Laundry Company, was previously located at the site. Built in 1903, it was torn down two years ago to make way for the project.

More self-storage companies have come to Newark recently, including StorageBlue, which has a new location along Mount Pleasant Avenue in the North Ward and U-Haul, which is planning to open a facility in a former factory at 370-386 Orange Street in the Central Ward.
