Hat City Streets Festival Coming to Orange


Orange, New Jersey: The annual Hat City Streets Festival will take take on Saturday, June 13th from 11:00am to 7:00pm in the Valley Arts District. Local chefs will serve different types of cuisines, and the Hat City Kitchen will be open. There will be a live printmaking demonstration at the ValleyArts Creative Co-op at 2:00pm, and Activities for children will inclcude hat making workshops, glass bracelet making with Newark's GlassRoots, and other arts activities. There will be a variety of musical performances by local musicians, like Orange native Billy Hector, on the Mainstage. Other performances will take place at the Family Stage, and performing groups will include the Orange Dance Conservatory, Voices of Harmony, and Sky Jaffe's Reach for the Sky. In addition, ValleyArts, which is celebrating 10 years this year, will host a kick-off party on Friday, June 12th at 7:00pm at the ValleyArts Creative Co-op. Attendees can meet the artists and musicians, and enjoy food and music with local leaders, like Orange Mayor Dwayne Warren. The cost of the party is $75, which will benefit ValleyArts, and will include access to a VIP area of the Mainstage at the festival. The ValleyArts Creative Co-op is located in the Kelli Copeland Lofts at 400 South Jefferson Street in Orange. Transportation to the festival is available by taking the New Jersey Transit Morris and Essex Lines train to Highland Avenue Station, or by taking the 92 bus from Bloomfield and Newark. The festival will be concentrated around Forest, Tompkins, and South Jefferson Streets.
