Newark SAS to Present 'Operation Cleanup'

Orange, New Jersey: Volunteers from across Essex County will work to clean up several local neighborhoods later this month.

In honor of Earth Day, Newark Science and Sustainability, Inc. will present 'Operation Cleanup' on Saturday, April 25 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Area residents will work together to remove trash and litter from residential and commercial districts. Organized events will take place at the Orange Public Library, located at 348 Main Street in the city, and in Newark's West Side at 385 South Orange Avenue. Organizers are asking local business owners and artists to help "make this day of cleaning and beautifying neighborhoods into a festive outdoor event".

In addition, residents and neighborhood associations in Newark, East Orange, Orange, and Irvington are encouraged to organize an independent cleanup event.

“This helps to restore pride in our neighborhoods", said Orange organizer Angie Smith regarding the program.

In case of rain, the event will be held the following week on Saturday, May 2nd.
