American Revolution Program and Greenway Hike Coming to Bloomfield


The Historical Society of Bloomfield will hold a presentation about New Jersey's role in the American Revolution on Tuesday, March 24 at 7:30pm. Arthur S. Lefkowitz, the author of The Long Retreat, will discuss the British invasion of New Jersey in 1776. The presentation will take place at the Bloomfield Civic Center, located at 84 Broad Street, next to the Bloomfield Public Library.

In addition, Rich Rockwell and Ron Rice will conduct a three mile hike on Saturday, April 25 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Participants will follow the path of the Morris Canal in Bloomfield, and will take a bus ride to locations where the canal is still intact. The Morris Canal originally connecting Jersey City, Hudson County with Phillipsburg, Warren County before being abandoned over 90 years ago. Space for the tour is limited, and interested attendees should reserve a space by sending an email to morriscanal@gmail.com. A donation of $5.00 per participant is requested to cover expenses.
