The seventh annual Festival de la Familia Latina will take place this Sunday from 1pm to 6pm on Broadway in Newark, between Broad Street and Bloomfield Place.
"Festival de la Familia Latina is Newark's great annual festival celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of our Latino community, and how it contributes to creating a Newark we can all believe in", said Newark mayor Ras Baraka.
The festival will feature cultural performances and music, including salsa, capoeira, and Peruvian dance. Activities will include free health screenings, arts and crafts, inflatable bouncers, Zumba, a dunk tank, an obstacle course, a farmer's market, and healthy food demonstrations and tastings. Several local organizations will have tables at the festival, including the Newark Museum, NJPAC, the Newark YMCA, and Essex County College.
