Photos: National Night Out Celebrated in South Orange


First on PlaceNJ.com: Hundreds of South Orange residents celebrated National Night Out on Tuesday night at Flood's Hill in Meadowland Park. The annual event is designed to connect local public safety agencies with the community. This year's National Night Out featured a concert by the band 'Aisle Five', a showing of The Lego Movie, and inflatable rides and balloon art for children. Food was avalible for purchase from Multiple food trucks including Pizza Vita and Taqueria Autentica. 

Several local departments and organizations participated in National Night Out, including the South Orange Police Department (SOPD) and the South Orange Rescue Squad (SORS). Several vehicles from the SOPD, SORS, South Orange Fire Department and New Jersey Transit Police Department were on display. Other organizations and businesses which participated in the event included BCB Community Bank, Seton Hall University, First Night of Maplewood and South Orange, PlayDay South Orange, the South Orange Transportation Advisory Committee, the South Orange PBA, the South Orange Village Center Alliance, and the South Orange Community Emergency Response Team.
