MAPSO News Roundup: CHS Graduate Creates Tech Videos, Buildings Torn Down

One of the world's most popular technology critics is a recent Columbia High School graduate and Maplewood native. Marques Brownlee critiques new technology on his YouTube channel, MKBHD. The channel has over 1.5 million subscribers, making it one of the 500 most subscribed YouTube channels. Recently reviewed items include the LG G3, the iPhone 6 model, and the Android Wear smartwatch. Brownlee was featured on Business Insider yesterday, and has been called "the best technology reviewer on the planet right now" by former Google executive Vic Gundotra.

Two buildings were torn down this week on Church Street in South Orange. The buildings, 11 and 13 Church Street, were located next door to St. Andrew and Holy Communion Episcopal Church, opposite the NJ Transit parking lot. Gentleman's Row, a clothing store, used to be located inside 11 Church Street before closing several years ago. According to Deputy Village Administrator Adam Loehner, a four unit apartment building will be built on the site.
